Success is within all of us, we just can't always see it.
So what is success? Success is achieving a goal or a dream, no matter how small or how large.
Success is that amazing feeling that you get from having achieved what you set out to do. It's a feeling that money can't buy and that no one can ever take away from you. It's that "Yes, I've done it!" feeling, that transforms you from someone who is just a dreamer to a person who actually lives their dreams. But we all know that turning a dream into reality isn't easy and we often don't know where to start. So how do we go about doing it?
Well first and foremost you have to take some ACTION. That is the only thing that is going to start turning your dream from being simply an idea in your head into reality. And that is where most people get stuck. That is why most people on this planet are still sitting there dreaming instead of living their dreams. They are waiting for something to happen, they think that if their dream is meant to come true then it just will!
I'm sorry to disappoint you dreamers out there…but life just doesn't work like that. If you stay still you stay stuck. If you're in a rut you'll stay there. Until you take some Action. People often don't take action because their dreams are so big, so 'out there' that although they would love to perhaps be a film director, deep inside they don't actually see how on earth they possibly could. Perhaps they don't have much money, don't have all the skills they know they would need or know the right people… Excuses are just a way of not addressing the problem, of not taking responsibility for our lives. Principally they are a way of not addressing our fears.
When I climbed Mount Everest and sailed the Atlantic Ocean I faced FEAR in capital letters. In fact, particularly on Everest, I lived with fear a lot of the time (see http://www.susanharpertodd.com/thoughts). The photograph above shows how I had to cross ladders over gaping crevasses in the Khumbu Icefall. The icefall took 8 hours to climb up, and I had to do the return journey 5 times. I didn't always have a belief that I could succeed either. In fact there were times when I sincerely doubted that I could climb the mountain. But luckily I had my Sherpa climbing with me, who saw the Success within me that is within all of us. He gave me the confidence to continue when I was afraid and I doubted. I climbed to the summit of highest mountain on earth, but it was my Sherpa who gave me the belief to get there.
Which is why I have made it my purpose in life to help others to climb their own Everests to help you to achieve your dream. If you don't know what your dream is then I can help you find it, because we do all have our own Everests to climb and we do all have it within us to reach the summit. I want you to experience that incredible feeling of achievement. Because believe me, and I am speaking from experience, you have absolutely no idea what you can do until and unless you try.
So…what are you waiting for? Lights, camera, ACTION!
